Success at Henley Women's Regatta

A8 2This weekend  at Henley Women’s Regatta saw TWO wins and some extremely strong racing across the whole of the women’s squad.

This year the heavy weight squad targeted the Intermediate Academic VIII entering two boats, and having won Gold in the IM8 at BUCS Regatta back in May, they were determined to up hold their reputation. Both VIII’s successfully qualified and won their first races easily. The second VIII were unfortunately beaten by a very strong Reading crew in the second round, still a very promising result for a crew comprised of many first year and development squad rowers; definitely athletes to look out for in the future. However the stand out result of the weekend went to the first Academic VIII who beat Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool and went on to win the final by a 1/3 of a length against Nottingham, an absolutely outstanding achievement.

The second win of the competition was from the Norske Studenters/Durham Uni composite in the E2- who won the final comfortably by 2 lengths against Molesey BC, an exciting result for the Norwegian pair featuring Durham rower Hanna Gailis Inntjore.

The final entry was in the LW4x who raced a straight final against the GB U23 composite quad. A phenomenal performance saw them finishing only half a length down, demonstrating some very impressive sculling.
