Could all University Entries be sent in using the ‘NEIRC Entry for BUCS’ form at right.

North East Indoor Rowing Championships for 2011 will be held at the Graham Sports Centre in Durham on the 7th December, with the first race starting at 10:45am. They will form part of the BUCS Indoor Rowing Championships. Entry is £6 per person per event.

Payment can also be made by internet transfer. Please send entries by email to thepresident@dubc.co.uk if it is too late to post.

Each year December sees Durham University and DUBC host NEIRC. The annual event held at the Graham Sports Centre, Maiden Castle, draws athletes from throughout the region and beyond, with competition in the following categories:

Categories:

• Allcomers: open to all athletes
• University: open to all current university students with BUCS points available
• Veterans: using the Concept 2 handicapping system
• College: open to all students who are not competing for DUBC but are in a Durham College

The above categories are available in male and female, heavyweight and lightweight.

• Team Challenge: 3000m in teams of four for Durham University College  Novices and Seniors,  Allcomers, College Sports Clubs and the Interdepartmental teams.

The event provides a focus for the term’s training and is also an opportunity for talented athletes to be recognised. The event is endorsed by British Rowing, and Team GB send a coaching presence to oversee the proceedings.

The event is a big favourite in the calendar for all local clubs, as well as for many who travel from further afield. With Newcastle University sending their top athletes to compete against DUBC, top draw commentary accompanying the racing, and lots of prizes, this event has a great atmosphere and is not to be missed!
