Welcome to your own section of our new website. Here, we endeavor to keep you up-to-date with any news and events that affect our Friends of Durham Rowing in particular. You will also be able to browse through our photo albums, watch videos of DUBC in action, check out the Rower of the Month (link in the sidebar), read an archive of newsletters and see the progress that DUBC is making towards its current fundraising goal.

FODR NEWS

As we move in to our next academic year here are a few dates for your diary:

  • DUBC Boat Club Ball: 12th November 2011. This years ball will be at the Radisson Blu in the heart of Durham, this has the two great benefits of having rooms available to be booked, a price for the night will be discussed in the coming weeks and also cancels out the need to travel to and from the city. Hopefully this year we can entice many more alumni to make the journey up to Durham and celebrate another year of successes for the Club and usher in many more!
  • Alumni Races: provisionally 8th January 2012. Following the great deal of fun and enjoyment had by all concerned last year, we hope to run our event on the same weekend as last year in conjunction with the Durham University Alumni Sports Day. This will be confirmed in the coming weeks, so keep the date in your diary, but do keep checking.
  • Durham Regatta: provisionally 9th-10th June. It would be fantastic this year to have a few Alumni Crews coming together again to race at the regatta on our home turf! This year we had a crew comprised of recent leavers and in 2010 we had two crews of a few generations before. If you and your team mates of your time would like to compete and relive the nostalgia, please contact either the President or Vice-President and we shall arrange boats, blades and entries.
  • Henley Drinks: 30th June. As ever the students shall be holding their annual Pimm’s Reunion Drinks this Henley Royal on the Saturday Evening, which was quite a raucous event this year! It was very good to see so many alumni meeting ol friends once again, we hope that you can join us in 2012.
