Lilly van den Broecke from Durham University has won a paralympic gold, coxing the mixed coxed four to victory on Sunday 2nd of September.

Van den Broaecke coxed a superb race, at points lying about their position to the crew in order to make them push harder. Such crafty tactics worked well as they beat their main rivals, the German world record holders. Ukraine won the Bronze medal.

Lilly has had a postbox painted gold in Oxford in honour of her achievement.

She studies PPE and is a member of university college.
