The event was extremely successful, both for reuniting old friends as well as raising support for DUBC. The club’s president, Franz Imfeld said ‘It was fantastic to see such a great turn out. I am very thankful for all the support that has gone into making such an occasion happen.’
The main event was racing in eights on a short 400m course, finishing just in front of Mortlake BC. The boats were made up of a mix of alumni and current athletes, both men and women. In total there were 7 teams.
These 7 boats battled it out, until two finalists remained. But before the final, the teams were able to feast on a fantastic array of food, courtesy of the catering and organisation of women’s cox, Char Jackson.
In the final, the winning team won by a convincing margin, coxed by Tom Hill. A result he was ‘very pleased with’.
Next on the DUBC agenda is Quintin Head, which will be held on the Tideway at the end of January.
